Trick is figuring out where the oil is coming from. Typically it is either from the turbo, or the piston rings, or possibly the valves. Inspect the turbo by removing the hose going to the after cooler. Check for oil in there.

The problem is when you start it cold it smokes. It is white smoke clearly unburnt fuel, not water, very strong fuel smell.
